Is romance dead?

A study has revealed that a MAN is more likely to say 'I love you' first.  Yes, hard to believe, but maybe men do care a lot more then they let on.  Are they romantics at heart? Laura Kerrigan investigates.

A recent study has shown that men think about saying 'I love you' about 6 weeks before women do!

The US study taken by Josh Ackerman, at Massachusettes Institute of technology, consisted of interviewing 205 straight men and women and found that each gender differates on their timing of saying the three words, and it depends on if the couple have had sex or not.

Occording to Ackerman, Men would rather hear their partner say 'I love you' a month into the relationship if they have not yet had sex, however us ladies apparently like to hear the three magic words AFTER a sexual relationship has been encountered. Researcher Ackerman says:

"Men may be more impulsive in the way they express love, but what love means to men and what love means to women may be very different".

He explains that men were happier to hear "I love you" before sex because it usually means  the relationship is soon to include sexual intercourse, while women took "l love you" post-sex as a signal of commitment.

So, men say 'I love you' because they love sex? Typical. Or maybe they are just more confident in admitting they are falling for you? The fact it means getting in your pants must just be a bonus I'm sure!

What I want to know is, is romance dead? Do men SHOW that they love us?

Earlier this year, the 16 year old Justin Bieber, supposedly bought every flower in a florist shop for his girlfriend Selena Gomez.  He rung them and asked them to make her house a flowery haven and it was filled with various bouquets!  At just 16, he's cracked the way to a womans heart already.  Although, the young star does have a lot of cash to splash unlike most of us!

Ordinary men can be romantic when they want to be.  I asked several men of Kent what they've done to prove their love!

Godfrey Hatton, a student at Broadstairs, said the most romantic gesture he's ever done was to have a picnic on the beach at sunset:

"I lit candles all around us and I made a chocolate torte.  I also brought along strawberries and champagne".

And guess what, Mr Hatton told P~T~F that he had not slept with the woman by that point either.

Godfrey admitted he was a serious romantic at heart! That was not the only time he has done something heart-melting!:

"Last year I met an Austrian exchange student during freshers week.  She was only here for two weeks but I started to really like her, so I wrote a little love letter for her, but got her friends to help me translate it to German for her".

Ben Dyer, a Christchurch student, proposed to his girlfriend two years ago:

" I took my misses to Ireland and went to a really posh restaurant, which was a refurbished church, and proposed to her".

It's nice to know some men are capable of being romantic!

P~T~F asked a couple of other guys what they have done in the name of romance! Heres what they had to say:
